How do I open photos from an SD card?

Connect your card reader to your iPhone or iPad, open the App, tap "Open folder" and pick the DCIM folder (or any folder) on your card. The App reads directly from the volume — no import needed.

Does it work with Sony / Canon / Nikon / Fuji RAWs?

Yes. Supported formats include Sony ARW/SR2/SRF, Canon CR2/CR3/CRW, Nikon NEF/NRW, Fujifilm RAF, Olympus/OM System ORF, Panasonic/Lumix RW2, Pentax PEF, Leica DNG/RWL, Hasselblad 3FR/FFF, Phase One IIQ/CAP, Sigma X3F, Adobe DNG, plus Samsung SRW, Minolta MRW, Epson ERF, Mamiya MEF/MOS, Kodak KDC/DCR, and standard JPG/HEIC/HEIF.

Where are my ratings saved?

Each rating and flag is written to a .xmp sidecar file next to the source photo, using standard xmp:Rating and xmp:Label fields. Lightroom, Capture One and Photo Mechanic read these automatically on import.

Common questions

Why is the RAW+JPG pair shown as one tile?

By default, the App pairs a RAW and its matching JPG (same basename) into a single tile with one rating. To split them into two tiles, go to Settings → Pairing and choose "Separate".

How do I zoom in for pixel-peeping?

Double-tap the photo, or pinch. The first zoom triggers a full RAW decode through Apple's Core Image RAW pipeline. Double-tap again to zoom back out.

What happens when I reject a photo?

By default, rejected photos are moved to a _Rejects/ subfolder inside your working folder — safe and reversible. You can also enable outright deletion in Settings.

Is my library uploaded anywhere?

No. The App has no network access. Everything stays on your device. See the Privacy Policy.

Troubleshooting

My camera's RAW files won't preview

The App uses Apple's system RAW pipeline. If Photos.app or Preview.app on macOS can open the file, RAW+JPG Cull can too. New camera models sometimes need an iOS update from Apple before RAW support is added system-wide.

The app is running slowly on a large folder

The first pass builds a preview index. For 2000+ photos this takes a few seconds on modern devices. Subsequent scrolls are instant.

My ratings didn't show up in Lightroom

Make sure Lightroom's import preference "Import XMP metadata" is enabled. In some workflows you may need to right-click → Metadata → Read Metadata from File after import.
